I agree that if someone is very egotistic we will have a tragic fall because he will not think of the concequences of his actions and without knowing it he will destroy himself. We have seen this in books of history and in movies. Xerxes was the Greatest Persian leader. he was able to govern by war many lands to a point to were he thought that he was unbeatable and that he was a match for god himself. He lost his mind and in one battle against the Greek army he filled the sea with ships to show that he was God but the greeks managed to win the fight with minimal loses and because he egoistic people dont care about people other than themselves and this behaviour leads to toher people also not caring about that person and he becomes isolated by himself and he will slowly fade away.
i agree that rejection and mistreatment can manifest in a person becoming rage filled because if a person becomes so convinced that he or she is worthless that idea will manifest its self as evil deeds and the person will harm whoever he or she believes that rejected them or mistreated them animals on the other hand if a person harms them they will believe that all people are bad just like that one person and they will attack many people. Also many serial killers have been proven that their parents were abusing them when they were young making them feel useless and make them develop a hatred for the world around them and this leeds to murdering other people without thinking what they are about to do. And people act unto others as others have acted upon them as kids because they think that that is the correct way to go. It is usually parents fault when kids become rage filled because parents are the ones that critisize children more than anyone.

A Scanner Darkly Book Review

A Scanner Darkly
Book review by Marios Kitrou

This book is written in the first person and is set in the future. It is based in a big U.S. city. The protagonist, Bob Arctor, is a policeman who must portray a drug addict in an attempt to find drug dealers who are dealing a mysterious drug called ‘Substance D’. The substance creates hallucinations, and in particular, makes users feel that their blood is being sucked by bugs. This includes hallucinations of the actual bugs themselves.

The story takes a sudden twist, when Bob Arctor becomes an addict himself. The book focuses on his internal struggle between his role as an officer and his role as an addict. The protagonist changes his name to Kevin and engages in typical drug addict behavior. He lives in a small apartment with four other drug addicts and his days consist of doing drugs. Like all drug addicts they become desperate and at one point try to rob a pharmacy.

This story is a science-fiction thriller. People who enjoy fiction set in a futuristic setting will like this story. Be warned, however, that this story is not for the weak minded. There are gruesome parts and graphic violence. This is not a Disney movie and the ending is not necessarily a happy one.
